Hızrî Mehmed Bey of Amasya (d. 1534-36), imperial council secretary and poet: his life, the Âb-ı Hayât mesnevi and the verses kept in the anthologies.
The life of Hızrî of Amasya, a descendant of Hızır Pasha who served as an imperial council secretary under Selim I and Süleyman, his mesnevi Âb-ı Hayât and his place in the anthologies.
The opening couplet Latîfî counted as Hızrî's finest: the yellowed face amid the tears likened to an autumn leaf fallen into water, and the contrast of rose and autumn.
Four couplets on the virtue of keeping secrets from Hızrî's mesnevi Âb-ı Hayât: the wise set against the ignorant, the pun on "dil" as tongue and heart, and the man of valour.
