A name that opens with a call, repeats the same word twice and closes with an exclamation: in his 2018 article setting out Amasya folk songs in tables, Haluk Yücel writes this song as "Ey, hızara hızara" with a comma and an exclamation mark. That is all that remains of its words. In the tables it appears as a kırık hava, and its metre is 4/4. No text has been found to show to whom or to what the exclamation is addressed, or what the word "hızara" conveys here.

Lyrics

No publication has printed the lines that follow the name, and the tune has not appeared in notation either. The name is not on the list of folk songs that the Ministry's provincial directorate in Amasya has published with sound files, nor is it among the melodies the Ankara State Conservatory recorded on disc in Amasya in 1943. Since Yücel, too, does not write where he took the piece from, no clue is left for tracing the text.

Story

Whether the exclamatory name is tied to an event or to a dance is unknown. No published tradition has been found about how the song arose or to whom it was sung, either.

Musical Features

The metre table marks this song 4/4. In this part of the table "Amasyalı, Zileli" from Gümüşhacıköy and "Bahtın kara olsa, sen kara olma" are also marked 4/4, while the two henna-night songs right beside it, "Geline bakın, geline" and "Âdem Havva'yı yarattı", stand in the 9/8 column. As for mode, Yücel does not give it for individual songs.

Performers and Recordings

In the order of the genre table "Ey, hızara hızara" falls between two henna-night songs whose pages are published: above it Geline Bakın Geline, below it Adem Havva'yı Yarattı. This nearness is a matter of order only and establishes no link with the two songs. No singer of the song or recorded performance could be found. All the folk songs and long songs of the region can be viewed from The Melody of Yeşilırmak.
