A violin and a darbuka: these were the instruments of the pair who played Sarhoş Havası onto disc. Muharrem Sorgu, a dyer from central Amasya, played the violin, and Sabri Tınaztepe, whose occupation was written on the card as "boş" (none), played the darbuka. When the collecting team of the Ankara State Conservatory arrived in Amasya, the pair gave, one after another, the first three tunes recorded there, and Sarhoş Havası was the last of the three. The middle piece of the same session entered the TRT repertoire, but this tune did not; nor has its notation been printed anywhere.

Lyrics
The tune has no words, and the catalogue is content to mention it by name. Since no notation of it has been published, the only way to hear the melody is disc 1104; like the rest of the Ankara State Conservatory's collection material, the disc is kept today at the State Conservatory of Hacettepe University.
Story
Kaya's catalogue holds two more recordings with "sarhoş" in their names, and both were taken far from Amasya: "Sarhoş Zeybeği (Zurna ve Oyun ile)", played with the zurna in Kütahya in 1938, and a "Sarhoş" beginning "İpekli mendilim var", recorded in Tekirdağ in 1947. Whether these recordings are related to the Amasya tune, the catalogue does not say. To which dance or which scene the name belongs is not explained on the Amasya card either, and there is no publication describing how Sarhoş Havası ("the drunkard's tune") was danced in the town.
Musical Features
The violin heard on the disc is Sorgu's, the darbuka Tınaztepe's; the catalogue's list of performers enters beside each man the instrument he played in the collection. The scale, rhythm and duration of the melody were not entered on the card. For Paçalı, which the pair played just before, the TRT notation gives the Karcığar scale and a 2/4 rhythm, but there is no record showing that Sarhoş Havası was played in the same scale.
Performers and Recordings
Disc 1104 was begun in Zile: the three recordings on side A were taken from Ahmet Temiz on 2 July, while side B was given over to Amasya. On side B the order is "Üsküp", Paçalı, Sarhoş Havası and "Mendilim Var", which Sorgu recorded this time together with Abdullah Çakırer and Muhlis Orçun. On the next disc, too, Sorgu took part in the recording of Amasya'nın Dağları. Sabri Tınaztepe's darbuka is heard again two days later in two songs sung by Naciye Perin: Geline Bakın Geline and Sabah Oldu Kaynanam Geldi. No recording of Sarhoş Havası from later years has come to light. The general frame for the melodies collected in the town and the villages is drawn by The Melody of Yeşilırmak.
