The title "Anadan, babadan ayrı" ("Apart from mother and father") reads like the opening of a line built on separation, but what has come down to us of the song itself is these four words. It stands on the eighth row of the very first page of Haluk Yücel's tables of 89 songs; it is marked as a kırık hava and set in 2/4. Yücel adds the district in brackets next to the titles of songs from the districts; this row carries no such note.

Lyrics
Anadan, babadan ayrı
The title passes into present-day Turkish as it stands: someone fallen apart from mother and father. Who has been separated, and for what reason, lies in the rest of the line, and neither that rest nor the song's score ever reached any publication.
Story
How the song was made is unknown; neither a written record nor a published tale tells of it.
Musical Features
In the table two songs in two beats come side by side: "Bana cevreyleyip, geyip dokunma", noted as from Gümüşhacıköy, and this song. "Çıktım yaylaları gezdim", which follows, is in nine beats. With 17 songs, 2/4 trails only the four-beat melodies in Yücel's tally. The song's makam cannot be drawn from the table, which gives the distribution of scales among Amasya songs only as totals.
Performers and Recordings
Its two neighbours in the table appear in the TRT repertoire as numbered works: Bana Cevreyleyip Geyip Dokunma and Çıktım Yaylaları Gezdim. "Anadan, babadan ayrı", however, is not in TRT's Amasya section. Since it is not written which of Yücel's other sources, folk song albums or renditions among the people, it came from, no singer or disc can be shown. Together with these neighbours, the whole of Amasya's folk song repertoire is treated in The Melody of Yeşilırmak.
