In Modern English

He was from Amasya. He is the son of Hacı Mehmed Bey, one of the zeamet holders, whose father was Ahmed Bey, whose father was Mehmed Bey, whose father in turn was Sarı Ali Bey. In his youth he entered the sultan's palace, rose to become tülbent ağası, and in 1169 [1755-56] became the sultan's çuhadar.

For a time he did not attain the sultan's favor, and was aggrieved when the agas beneath him rose to the silahtarship; in 1177 [1763-64] he became the sultan's silahtar. After serving the sultan for more than a year and a half, he was dismissed at the beginning of 1179 [1765-66] and died in the month of Şaban of the same year. Among the viziers, Sarı Beyzâde Mehmed Pasha obtained his vizierate through his efforts.

Palace Agha Rank and an Amasya Rise

The lineage goes back four generations from Sarı Ali Bey; Hüsameddin describes this man, who went to the palace from a zeamet-holding family, through the steps of agha rank in the order of tülbent ağalığı, çuhadarlık and silahdarlık. According to the text his rise to the silahtarship took place in 1177, and until then it had grieved him that the agas beneath him had passed him. After more than a year and a half of service he was dismissed in early 1179 and died in Şaban of the same year.

The last sentence of the entry says that the vizier Sarı Beyzâde Mehmed Pasha received his vizierate through this man's efforts. The similarity of names suggests that the two were from the same family; however, no such kinship is written in the text. No information was found in other sources about this person or the Sarı Beyzâde family.
