Zile and Its Surroundings

Zile is a town west of Tokat and south of Amasya; in antiquity it was known as Zela. The present name and location of the village Hüsameddin calls "Kazan Kaya" could not be verified in the sources read. That the madrasas of Amasya drew students from the villages of this area can be seen from similar examples in other entries of the book: Ahmed Efendi, too, came from a neighbouring district, studied in Amasya and settled there. Ahmed Vehbi Efendi of Doğla, in entry 6-777, also studied with the same teacher, Hacı İsmail Hakkı Efendi of İnepazarı.

The Hacı Hamza Quarter

No information was found in other sources on the Hacı Hamza quarter where Ahmed Efendi lived, or on Ahmed Efendi himself.
