In Modern English
He was a native of Amasya. He was the son of İskender Bey, son of Abdullah Bey, son of el-Hâc Yûsuf Bey, son of Abdi Bey, son of Yörgüç Pasha, who fell as a martyr in the Battle of Çaldıran in 920 [1514]. When his father fell as a martyr he was a twenty-five-year-old zeamet holder and was rewarded with the sanjak of Çorum. Then he went round the sanjaks as sanjak bey; in 940 [1533-34], while sanjak bey of Erzincan, he was assigned to the Baghdad war. Because he showed merit in this war he became beylerbeyi of Şehrizor and then of Trabzon. In 951 [1544-45] he came on assignment to the retinue of Prince Sultan Mustafa and became garrison commander (muhâfız) of the province of Amasya. Then he became beylerbeyi of Sivas and died in 959 [1552]. His son was Yûsuf Bey, one of the beys.

The Abdi Bey Branch of Yörgüç Pasha's Line
Ahmed Pasha's genealogy goes back to Abdi Bey, the little-known son of Yörgüç Pasha (died 845 / 1442), the great benefactor of Amasya. Fatma Toruk, who studied the waqf deed of Yörgüç Pasha's son Mustafa Bey, counts Abdi Bey too among the pasha's children by Şahbulu Hatun, but notes that his death date and life are not known and that only his name appears in the sources. The lineage Hüsameddin gives is important in showing that the Abdi Bey branch remained strong enough to produce a beylerbeyi until the mid-sixteenth century. Yörgüç Paşazâde Ahmed Bey, mentioned in the previous entry, descends from the pasha's other son Ali Bey; the fathers of the two Ahmeds, Ali Bey and İskender Bey, both fell as martyrs at Çaldıran.
From Çaldıran to Baghdad
The Battle of Çaldıran, in which his father İskender Bey fell as a martyr, was fought on 23 August 1514, and the Ottoman army lost the beylerbeyi of Rumeli and ten sanjak beys in this battle. The Baghdad war in which Ahmed Pasha took part is Süleyman the Magnificent's Campaign of the Two Iraqs (Irakeyn). The sultan set out on campaign by crossing to Üsküdar on 11 June 1534; when he gave up pursuing Shah Tahmasb he turned to Baghdad, Grand Vizier İbrâhim Pasha entered the city without meeting resistance on 28 November 1534, and the sultan entered Baghdad in ceremony on 30 November. Hüsameddin writes that Ahmed Pasha was appointed beylerbeyi of Şehrizor for his merits in this campaign; no record confirming this appointment could be seen.
At Prince Mustafa's Side
Prince Mustafa was sent to Amasya on 21 Safar 948 [16 June 1541]; Ahmed Pasha's being assigned to his retinue in 951 agrees with this date. Because Ahmed Pasha died in 959, he did not see the bloody events in Amasya that followed the prince's execution the next year. No information on Ahmed Pasha was found in other sources.
