The Halîfiyye Madrasa
The "Halîfiyye" or "Halfet" madrasa in the text must, judging by the name, be the Halîfet Gazi Madrasa in Amasya (inference; the text gives no further detail). Popularly called "Hilfet Gazi", this building was, according to its inscription, built in 606 [1209-10]; the madrasa deed of its founder Halîfet Gazi is dated 622 [1225]. Halîfet Gazi, a Danishmendid emir, entered the service of the Seljuks after the end of his principality, was appointed governor of Amasya under Alâeddin Keykubad I in 619 [1222], later became governor of Erzurum, and in 1232 fell as a martyr in a campaign against the Georgians and was buried in his tomb in Amasya. The south wall and the east section of the madrasa partly survive; after the earthquake of 1647 the müderris Hasan Efendi had the collapsed parts rebuilt in wood, and in 1888 the mufti of Amasya, Hacı Osman Hilmi Efendi, had the whole building thoroughly repaired. The complex stands today in the Şamice quarter, on Torumtay street. No information on the state of the madrasa in 675, when Tebrîzîoğlu was its müderris, was found in the sources read.
Tebrîzîoğlu and His Family
No information was found in the sources read on Tebrîzîoğlu himself, on his father Celâleddîn Abdülvehhâb or on his grandfather Hüsâmeddîn Yûsuf. The dates 675 and 684 given by Hüsameddin could therefore not be verified.
