The Sultaniye Madrasa

The entry introduces a family of learning that served as muftis in Merzifon: Mehmed Efendi, his son Ahmed Efendi and the latter's son Mehmed Efendi. Hüsameddin says "müderris of the Sultaniye" and does not write where the madrasa is. The structure bearing this name in Merzifon is the Çelebi Sultan Mehmed Madrasa; it is also called the Sultaniye Madrasa. Its construction began in 817 (1414) and was completed in 820 (1417); according to its inscription, it was begun by order of Çelebi Sultan Mehmed and finished by Umur Bey, son of Ali. Its first müderris was Ferîdüddîn-i Dîvânî. It is very probable that the Sultaniye where Ahmed Efendi served was this madrasa, but Hüsameddin does not write this explicitly.

For Ahmed Efendi himself, his father and his son, no source other than Hüsameddin was found.
