Family Line and Offices
In a form Hüsameddin often uses, the entry introduces the man through four generations of his paternal line. Kâsım Ağa of Tokat, at the far end of the line, suggests that the family was of Tokat origin; however, no other source confirming or extending this information was found. That Hacı Hüseyin Ağa served in a janissary company, took part in wars and then sat in the councils of pilgrims and ayan in Amasya shows how a man who began as a soldier of the kapıkulu corps came to hold standing as a local administrator in the city. Hacı Yûsuf Ağa, who lived in the same years and is mentioned in a neighboring entry, is also seen to have served as serdar and council member in a similar way (entry 629).
Hüsameddin closes the entry with the words "ayan-ı zâbitândan". "Ayan" and "zabit" are used together here, underlining both the man's military origin and his share in local government. The entry gives no further detail; the wars he took part in, his place of death, and any waqfs or works are not recorded. No information on this man was found in other sources.
