Amasya’nın Eski Kethüdâ Mahallesi eşrâfından ve a’yân-ı züamâsından İsmâil Bey bin Mustafa Bey bin Halîl Bey bin Çûçû Mustafa Paşa’nın mahdûmudur. “Çûçûoğlu” demekle meşhûrdur. Züamâdan iken 1242’de Nizâmiyye süvâri yüzbaşılığı ile zabıtândan oldu. Ba’dehû binbaşı ve kâ’im-makâm olup 1248’de harbe gitdi. 1249’da vefât etdi. Mahdûmu İsmâil Bey meşhûrdur.

He was the son of İsmail Bey bin Mustafa Bey bin Halil Bey bin Çuçu Mustafa Pasha, of the notables of the Eski Kethüda quarter of Amasya and of its zeamet-holding notables. He is known as "Çuçuoğlu". While a zeamet holder, in 1242 [1826-27] he became one of the officers as captain of the regular (Nizamiye) cavalry. Then he became major and lieutenant colonel (kaymakam), and in 1248 [1832-33] went to war. He died in 1249 [1833-34]. His son İsmail Bey is well known.

From Zeamet Holder to Regular Officer
The entry gives a small example of the passage from the old military order to the new regular army in the first half of the nineteenth century: Ahmed Bey, a descendant of Çuçu Mustafa Pasha, who began life as a zeamet holder, continues it in 1242 [1826-27] as a cavalry officer of the new order. This date falls right after the year in which the Janissary corps was abolished; Hüsameddin does not draw this link. Which war he went to and with which unit is not stated in the text. For his forebear Çuçu Mustafa Pasha and the Eski Kethüda quarter one has to look at other entries.
