In Modern English
He was from Köprü. There he completed his studies under the famous scholar Hacı Halil Efendi and gave public lectures. On his teacher's death his learned merit came to light and he became known; he became professor at the Abdülganizade and in 1238 [1822-23] mufti of Köprü.
A few years later he was dismissed and appointed again; in 1246 [1830-31], having been dismissed, he went to the Hejaz. On the return he fell ill and died in the early part of 1247 [1831-32]. He was a scholar, a man of merit and intelligent, and his mastery of the literary sciences was evident. He wrote a fine commentary on the Avamil titled "el-Kevkebü'd-dürrî alâ Avâmili'l-Birgivî". His son Kudsî Ahmed Efendi is likewise one of the leading scholars.

The Avamil Commentary and Birgivi
What stands out in the entry is Sarı Müderris's commentary "el-Kevkebü'd-dürrî". The Avamil, the subject of the commentary, is the short treatise that Birgivi Mehmed Efendi wrote so that students could memorize the rules of Arabic syntax; Birgivi also wrote a commentary on it himself. Many commentaries and glosses were written on this small work in the madrasas. Where Sarı Müderris's commentary is kept today, or whether it has been printed, could not be found.
Since Köprü is a town attached to Amasya, one may think that offices such as mufti and professor tied him to Amasya's circle of learning; the text does not say so. No source other than Hüsameddin could be found on Ahmed Efendi and his son Kudsî Ahmed Efendi. No information on these persons was found in other sources.
