In Modern English
He was the son of Ömer Paşazade Hacı Mehmed Bey, one of the notables of Amasya. After completing his study of learning and writing, he became a divan clerk in Amasya. On the death of his father in 1227 [1812], holding the administrative share of the Hatuniye waqf, he became a member of the council of notables.
At this time he attached himself to Seyfizade İbrahim Ağa, deputy governor of Amasya, and travelled the country as his secretary, as divan efendi under the said man's supervision and as adviser in affairs. In 1238 [1822-23] he was honoured with the rank of hacegân, and in the early part of 1241 [1825-26] he died in Brăila (İbrail).

Notables, Waqf and Deputy Governor
The entry shows how local powers were intertwined in Amasya in the early nineteenth century: a family of notables reaches council membership through income from waqf administration; the same man then attaches himself to the town's deputy governor and works at his side as divan efendi. The word "çatıb" in the text has been understood in its older sense of drawing close and attaching oneself. Hüsameddin also gives Brăila as the place of death; the entry does not say in what capacity Ahmed Bey went there.
The word "hacegân" is understood as a rank name given to members of the divan chancery; the text gives no detail. No source other than Hüsameddin could be found on Ahmed Bey, Ömer Paşazade Mehmed Bey and Seyfizade İbrahim Ağa. No information on these persons was found in other sources.
