The Dârülhadis Madrasa in Pirinççi
The Dârülhadis of which Ahmed Çelebi was müderris and trustee stood in the Pirinççi neighbourhood of Amasya, by the stream, in line with the Hacı Hamza Efendi Mosque. It was built of timber in 933 (1527) by el-Hâc Osman Çelebi, son of Seydi Ali, one of the kadıs. When the building burned in the fire of 1011 (1602), Osman Çelebi's granddaughter Ayşe Hatun had it rebuilt in 1018 (1609), left its trusteeship to her son Şaban Ağa and his descendants, and expanded the waqf deed by adding her own property to the waqf. This information agrees exactly with Hüsameddin's record "his daughter Ayşe Hatun had become trustee of the waqf": Ahmed Çelebi's daughter is a granddaughter of the founder Osman Çelebi.
The madrasa later burned also in the fires of 1098 (1687) and 1143 (1730) and was rebuilt twice, in 1100 (1689) and 1151 (1738). Most of the waqf revenues were lost over time, and only the income of one waqf farm continued to be set aside for the müderrises' salaries. The names of the müderrises who taught here in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries are known one by one. Osman Keskiner writes in 2011 that the building needs repair; some sources record that the timber madrasa fell into ruin in 1816.
The name of the founder's father is written differently in the sources: Hüsameddin says "Seydî Çelebi" in this entry, while other sources give the name "Kadı Seydi Ali." The nisba "Seydî Alizâde" in the entry's title suggests that the two names point to the same person.
Zeyneddin Tûlî Bey
Zeyneddin Tûlî, to whom the family ties its lineage, was one of the emirs who ruled Amasya in the Eretna period in the fourteenth century. Amasya, which came under the administration of Eretna Bey, who declared independence after the death of the Ilkhanid ruler Abu Said Bahadur Khan in 1335, was occupied in 1341 by the Tâceddinoğulları based at Niksar. Sultan Eretna, after securing the support of the Mamluk Sultan, sent his emir Tûlî Bey against these occupiers; with the help of the people of Amasya, Tûlî Bey took the city and its surroundings from Tâceddin Doğanşah. Zeyneddin Tûlî Bey served for a time as emir of Amasya; after his death Hacı Kutluşah was appointed in his place in 1347. Hüsameddin's genealogy shows this emir as Ahmed Çelebi's ancestor eight generations up; the links in between were not seen in other sources.
