Lâdik and Its Surroundings
That Sheikh Muharrem Efendi is referred to as from Lâdik is noteworthy. Ladik today is a district attached to Samsun, whereas in the Ottoman period it was a kaza attached to the sanjak of Amasya. According to local sources, Ladik came under Ottoman rule in 1414 and for many years remained within Amasya, which was attached to Sivas. It is also related that it was a picnic place for the princes who served as governors in Amasya. A study examining waqf records reports that one of the four nahiyes of the Ladik kaza bore the name Kara Abdal Sultan, and, relying on Hüsameddin's work, that the kaza was regarded from of old as the property of İhtiyâreddîn Sevinç Bey, known as Kızıroğlu.
