In Modern English
He was a native of Amasya. He was the son of Abdulbaki Çelebi the Kazzâz (silk merchant), who lived in the Hâtûniye quarter. In the histories he was called "Kazzâz Ahmed Bey." One of the leading sipahis, he became kethüdâyeri of Amasya. Then, having attached himself to Bayram Pasha, in the shadow of his fortune he became kapıcıbaşı and mîr-livâ (sanjak bey). When he was removed from the Sanjak of Bilecik, he came to Amasya as trustee of the sultans' waqfs.
In 1057 [1647-48] he became sanjak bey of Akşehir. Because he followed Gürcü Nebi, one of the famous brigand chiefs, and engaged in rebel movements, he was executed in Şâban 1059 [1649], and his goods and property were taken in the name of the state. His son is Abdulbaki Bey. His brother Sipahi Mehmed Ağa was also strangled for this reason, though innocent. His other brother is Ali Ağazâde Hasan Ağa.

The Rebellion of Gürcü Nebi and Kazzâz Ahmed
Kazzâz Ahmed is one of the known names of one of the rebellions that shook Ottoman internal politics in the mid-seventeenth century. Gürcü Abdünnebî, a cavalryman of the Porte, rose up demanding justice for the blood of the sipahis killed in Istanbul on 28 October 1648 (the Sultan Ahmed Incident). Katırcıoğlu Mehmed Pasha and Kazzâz Ahmed also joined him and marched on Istanbul. The government announced that if they dispersed the rebels it could give Abdünnebî the Turkmen ağalık and Katırcıoğlu and Kazzâz Ahmed a sanjak each. When Katırcıoğlu and Kazzâz Ahmed continued brigandage around Bursa, no agreement could be reached. The rebels, dispersed on the Bulgurlu hills, withdrew from the field on 7 July 1649 (26 Cemâziyelâhir 1059). Gürcü Abdünnebî withdrew to Niğde, Katırcıoğlu to Söğüt, and Kazzâz Ahmed to Akşehir. Abdünnebî was caught by İshak Bey, sanjak bey of Kırşehir, and executed at Parmakkapı in Istanbul.
This account agrees with what Hüsameddin wrote. According to Hüsameddin, Ahmed Bey became sanjak bey of Akşehir in 1057 and was sentenced to death in 1059 for following Gürcü Nebi. Kazzâz Ahmed's withdrawal to Akşehir during the rebellion also explains why Hüsameddin mentions him with the Akşehir sanjak. How Ahmed Bey was caught and the place of the execution are not related in the sources that could be read.
Bayram Pasha and the Lâdik Circle
The Bayram Pasha Hüsameddin speaks of is originally from Lâdik; his father's name is Kurd Ağa. Born in Istanbul and trained in the Janissary Corps, he died in 1048 [1638] during his grand vizierate in Murad IV's Baghdad campaign. Accordingly, the years Ahmed Bey spent with Bayram Pasha fall before 1638.
