The Enderun Mosque

It is probable that the mosque that Akça Hatun endowed is the same as the building in the Hatuniye Quarter of Amasya also known as the Loğ Minare Mosque; the sources also call this building the Enderun Mosque. In some documents, starting from 612 [1215-16], it is referred to as "Câmi-i Enderun" or "Câmi-i Gâzi Bey". When the building was constructed is not certain; because its architecture and brickwork bear 12th-century features, it is linked to the time of the Danishmendid Şemseddin İsmâil Gâzi Bey (1166-1172). Its name is thought to come from its location inside the Inner Castle. The building has long been in a ruined state.

The mosque was supported by waqfs in later centuries as well. Starting from 879 [1474-75], Gülbahar Hatun, mother of II. Bayezid, assigned the income of various villages and fields to this mosque; in 911 [1505-06] Gülçiçek Hatun also endowed some of her properties. Akça Hatun's waqf of 815 is about sixty years earlier than these; however, the details of this waqf were not in the sources examined.

On the Family

No information was found in other sources about Akça Hatun herself and her family (Bektimur, Âbâdoğlu).
