In Modern English

He was a native of Amasya. He was the son of Fazlızâde el-Hâc Saîd Ahmed Ağa, who in turn was the son of el-Hâc Ali Efendi. Having learned scholarship and the clerk's craft, he became jizya scribe in Amasya. Later, attaching himself to Ak Hasanzâde el-Hâc Halîl Pasha, he traveled the country as divan efendi. In 1200 [1785-86], on Hacı Halîl Pasha's death, he came to Amasya and lived in the Recep Quarter, and he died in the course of 1208 [1793-94]. He was a scribe and poet and knew the art of correspondence and composition (inşâ). The "Niyâz-nâme" that he wrote in Halîl Pasha's name to the Sublime Porte was seen; it was written in a literary style. His poems, however, could not be found.

Halîl Pasha's Scribe

The entry is linked to the entry on Ak Hasan Ağa on the preceding pages: Mehmed Efendi is the divan efendi of Ak Hasanzâde Halîl Pasha, the member of that family who rose to the vizierate. Hüsameddin says only that the Niyâz-nâme he wrote is in a literary style; he does not relay the content of the text, and he could not reach his poems.

No information was found on this person in other sources. In the same Amasya Tarihi another person from the Fazlızâde family, named Emin Mehmed Efendi (born 1219, son of Seyyid el-Hâc Abdülfettâh Efendi), also appears; this person is different from Âgah Mehmed Efendi, who died in 1208.
