The Silver Mine
The "Silver Mine" of the text is most probably the silver mines around the settlement of Gümüş in Amasya, today attached to Gümüşhacıköy; this is an inference. Gümüş was the district centre until 1891; Hacıköy became the district centre in 1892 and, absorbing Gümüş, the settlement began to be called Gümüşhacıköy. According to some sources, the silver mines in this area brought prosperity to the town in the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries, and the Seljuks and Ilkhanids struck coins in the region. This information does not directly explain the seventeenth-century offices Hüsameddin gives; it only helps to locate the mine named.
Bâlî Oğulları
No information was found in the sources read on Veli Ağa, Fazlı Pasha, Mehmed Efendi, Abdülkâdir Ağa, or the family known as "Baloğulları". No document was found either on the stewardship of the candle-makers' guild of Amasya or on the offices of sipahi, deputy steward and treasury steward in Amasya.
