Ah Amasya! It is to you and to your honor that I owe this: the noble, generous and appreciative leading men who, over the centuries, exalted you with all your sciences and arts, your charitable works and waqfs, your religious and civil institutions, and who made this appreciative poet, who worked for your sake for years with devotion and without help from anyone, a man who prays for your dear people.

What the Colophon Tells Us

This page carries the identifying details of the 2022 edition of the work. The edition is a publication of the Municipality of Amasya and covers the first four volumes. The names of three editors appear on the cover; the working principles of the editorial board are explained in the preface.

The quotation at the end of the page is a kind of dedication by the author to his work. With this sentence Hüsâmeddîn declares his devotion to the city that kept him working for years without help from anyone, and to the leading men who exalted the city over the centuries. His own statement that he carried out the work alone is better understood when read together with the fires and the financial hardship of his retirement years described in the introduction.

The author's name "Abdîzâde" is a family nickname coming from his grandfather Abdî Ağa; he took the surname "Yasar" after the Surname Law of 21 June 1934. The details are in the entry "Family."
