In Modern English
He was the son of Mehmed Çelebi of Amasya. He was one of the well-known scholars and died in 818 [1415-16]. In his time he was called by the title "Umdetü'l-ulemâi'l-muhakkikîn," meaning "the mainstay of the scholars who investigate in depth." His son is Hacı Hayreddîn Hızır Çelebi. Keçi Beyzâde Hacı Ebûbekir Çelebi, of the line of Torumtay, was the son of Sırâceddîn Mehmed Bey bin Süleyman Bey bin Ya'kûbşâh, vizier of Şâdgeldi Padişah, known as Keçi Bey. He became mütevelli of his grandfather's foundation and died around 821 [1418-19]. He was one of the great notables and emirs. He is buried in his grandfather's tomb; although his name is carved on the gravestone, there is no date of death. His sons were Cemâleddîn İshâk, Alâeddîn Ali and Nûreddîn Osmân Çelebi.

Two People in One Paragraph
This entry has a formal feature that should draw the reader's attention. The first part of the paragraph describes the scholar Bedreddin Ebûbekir Çelebi, son of Mehmed Çelebi, who died in 818. The second part, beginning "Keçi Beyzâde," belongs to another person, Hacı Ebûbekir Çelebi of the emir family, whose father, grandfather, occupation and date of death are different. Since in the other entries of the book each person is given under a separate heading, the heading of the second person must have dropped out in printing, or two entries must have been merged in typesetting. In the translation the order of the text has been kept, and the two persons are separated only by the beginnings of the sentences. No information was found in other sources on the scholar Ebûbekir Çelebi.
Keçi Bey and Şâdgeldi's Viziers
The father of the second person, Keçi Bey, that is, Sırâceddîn Mehmed Bey, is mentioned as the vizier of the emir of Amasya Hacı Şâdgeldi. Şâdgeldi became emir of Amasya in 1359, and when, after being removed from the city for a short time, he took over the administration again, he made Sırâceddîn Mehmed Bey, emir of Niksar, his vizier. Hüsameddin, however, shows Keçi Bey as of the line of Torumtay. It is possible that two different persons bearing the same name and title, one the emir of Niksar and the other a bey of the Torumtay family, were in Şâdgeldi's service; whether the two are the same person cannot be settled with the available sources.
The Torumtay Family and the Tomb
Seyfeddin Torumtay, from whom the family takes its name, was governor of Amasya in the Seljuk period. It is he who had the Gökmedrese Mosque built; after his death the tomb opposite the Gökmedrese was built in 1278. In the tomb, besides Torumtay, are the graves of his children and grandchildren. The two-story building, with a rectangular plan and covered by a vault, differs from other Seljuk tombs in that its decoration is gathered in the upper parts of the building rather than around the door and windows. It is very probable that the place Hüsameddin calls "the ancestor's tomb" is this Torumtay Tomb; that Hacı Ebûbekir Çelebi became mütevelli of his grandfather's foundation also suggests that the family held the administration of the Torumtay foundations for generations. The tomb stands today in Amasya opposite the Gökmedrese Mosque.
