Seven Blanks
In this entry Hüsameddin left seven places blank within the text: the year of birth, the date of going to Istanbul after the schools, the year of the diploma, the date of the Trabzon post, the return to Istanbul, the withdrawal from the deputyship and the start of the free profession. In the footnotes the editors each time place the note "The author left the place for the date blank." This suggests that the entry was written while Hasan Bey was alive and that the dates were left to be filled in later; this is an inference. There is not a single definite year in the entry; the order of events can therefore be drawn only from the order of the narration.
Trabzon and the Russian Occupation
Hüsameddin writes that Trabzon fell to Russian invasion during Hasan Bey's directorship of waqfs there and that he returned to Amasya. In the First World War the Russians, after taking places such as Erzurum, Erzincan, Bayburt and Gümüşhane, pressed on Trabzon by land and sea and captured the city in 1916. Official papers were sent to other provinces, and a significant part of the population was forced to migrate. This framework shows that Hasan Bey's post in Trabzon began before 1916 and that his transfer to Konya falls after that date. Hüsameddin gives no year for this.
The Deputy Trusteeship of the Waqf
In Istanbul Hasan Bey took on the deputy trusteeship of the Sultan Abdülhamid II Waqf, rescued the waqf's properties from the hands of those who had seized them, and increased the revenues many times over. Hüsameddin ties the reason for his leaving the post to the influence of those persons. No information was found in other sources on this waqf and post. No separate record was found in the sources read on the Payaslızâde family, the Devehane Neighborhood or Hasan Bey himself.
