Uncle and Nephew

The previous entry writes that Eşref Abdurrahman Bey's father was Hacı Şerif Mehmed Efendi. In this entry the same Hacı Şerif Mehmed Efendi is named as the grandfather of Eşref Mehmed Bey. According to the line of descent Hüsameddin gives, Abdurrahman Bey is the brother of Mehmed Bey's father. Both were raised in Hâfız Ali Pasha's circle. Mehmed Bey's return to Amasya is tied to the pasha's death. That the pasha died in 1247 is understood only from this sentence of the entry and could not be verified in another source.

The Mehmed Pasha Neighborhood

Hüsameddin counts Süleyman Bey, one of the sons, among the notables of the Mehmed Pasha Neighborhood. The Mehmed Pasha Complex, on the bank of the Yeşilırmak in Amasya, stands in this neighborhood. The founder of the complex is Hızır Paşazâde Mehmed Pasha (d. 1495), vizier of Bayezid II and tutor of Prince Ahmed. According to the inscription of the mosque, its construction was completed in Muharram 891 (January 1486). It may be thought that the neighborhood takes its name from this complex; the sources do not say so explicitly. No information was found in other sources on the life of Major Süleyman Bey and Colonel Osman Münir Bey.
