The Pervâne Bey Waqf and the Yâkûtiye

The Pervâne Bey waqf in Amasya is most probably linked to İzzeddin Mehmed Pervâne Bey (d. 1300), who arranged the waqf of the Burmalı Minare Mosque in 1299-1300. This study notes that the mosque was built in 1242 by Ferruh Bey, one of the viziers of Gıyaseddin Keyhüsrev II, and his brother, the treasurer Yusuf Bey, and that it is still open for worship in the centre of Amasya today. That the institution Hüsameddin calls the "Pervâne Bey waqf" is exactly this waqf is not clear from the text; this is an inference.

According to Hüsameddin, the trusteeship of the waqf, together with the sheikhdom of the Yâkûtiye, was in the hands of one family: it passed from Yahya Çelebi to his son Ahmed Efendi, and from him to İbrahim Efendi Vâsi' Çelebizâde. That the trusteeship passed to the son on the father's death in 1142 [1729-30] shows that the sheikhdom and the administration of the waqf were not separated from each other. No further information on the lodge or neighbourhood called Yâkûtiye could be reached in the sources consulted.
