The Bozahane Quarter and the Name İbadullah
Bozahane is among the quarters recorded in the Amasya population register of 1256 [1840]. A study describing the commercial buildings and markets of Amasya states that at the beginning of the sixteenth century there was a market called "İbadullah" in the Bozahane Quarter. The source read does not establish a relation between the name of the mosque and this market; only the occurrence of the same name in the same quarter can be noted. No information was found on the date when Hacı Hafız Mehmed Ağa had the mosque renewed or on the present state of the mosque.
The Ayan Class
Ayan is the name given to influential men in the provinces who gained social and economic privileges and carried out certain state tasks; it covers people from the learned, military, merchant and artisan groups, and the ayan gained strength in the eighteenth century. Hüsameddin's phrase for İsmâil Efendi, "among the scholars and the notables of the land", fits this definition. How the "council of pilgrims" functioned in Amasya could not be verified in the sources read.
