Family Names

The entry is very short and gives no detail of İsmâil Efendi's life; the only date it gives is the year of his death. What stands out in the text is the repetition of names from generation to generation. İsmâil Efendi's grandfather was Abdullah Vecîh Efendi, and one of his own sons was given the same name. This may point to a custom of giving the grandfather's name to a grandson within the family; this is an inference. The epithet "Şeyhzâde" comes from the title "eş-Şeyh" used for his father; the text does not say to which order or lodge his father belonged.

Another Rüşdü who lived in Amasya at about the same time is known: Şirvânîzâde Mehmed Rüşdü Pasha, born in Amasya, was the son of İsmâil Sirâceddin Şirvânî, a sheikh of the Hâlidiyye branch of the Naqshbandiyya, and his family had migrated from Şirvan to Amasya by way of Ahıska. A resemblance of names is not enough to link him to the family in Hüsameddin's entry; the text mentions neither Şirvan nor the Hâlidî path, and no source was found that connects the two families.

No information on Şeyhzâde İsmâil Efendi, his father Ahmed Rüşdü Efendi, or his sons Abdullah Vecîh and Mehmed Dâî Efendi was found in other sources.
