Original Text (Ottoman Turkish)

Esbak Amasya hükümdârı Nâsıreddîn Süleyman Hân'ın şehzâdesi olup bu târîhde Amasya hükümdârı olduğu Gülşen-i Tevârîh'de görülmüş ve 615 recebinde hâkim-i Simre bulunmuş ise de ne sûretle Amasya'yı zabt ederek icrâ-yı hükûmet eylediği anlaşılamadı. Fakat 616 senesi evâhirinde Konya hükümdârı Sultân İzzeddîn Keykâvus vefât ederek yerine birâderi Alâ'addîn Keykubâd Konya'da câlis-i taht-ı Selçûkî olduğu esnâda Amasya Selçûk Şâh idâresinde bulunmuşdur.

In Modern English

He was the son of Nâsıreddîn Süleyman Hân, the former ruler of Amasya. In the Gülşen-i Tevârîh he is seen as ruler of Amasya at this date, and he was ruler of Simre in Receb 615 [1218]; but how he took Amasya and how he carried on the administration could not be understood. Yet at the end of 616, when Sultan İzzeddîn Keykâvus, ruler of Konya, died and his brother Alâeddîn Keykubad took his seat on the Seljuk throne at Konya, Amasya was under the rule of Selçuk Şah.

On Kayser Şah

Hüsameddin states plainly that he himself does not know how Kayser Şah took Amasya. In going through the sources we found no further information about a governor of Simre named Kayser Şah or about a son of Nâsıreddîn Süleyman Hân. The information rests, according to Hüsameddin's account, on the Gülşen-i Tevârîh.

Keykâvus's death (1220) and the accession of his brother Alâeddin Keykubad, on the other hand, are well-known events in the Seljuk sources. Keykâvus came to the throne in 1211 and died in 1220. The date Hüsameddin gives, the end of 616, is consistent with this. How Keykubad bound Amasya to himself in this period is treated in the next entry, in the account of Selçuk Şah.
