Who He Was and What He Did
Hüsameddin places this man within a family: he descends from Hacı Hamza Bey, who left a mosque and a quarter in Amasya bearing his name. The entry itself does not give the present-day name of that quarter or mosque. No information on this man or on his sequence of posts was found in other sources; the dates and offices are known only as Hüsameddin reports them.
The sequence of posts shows the path of an Amasya man advancing in provincial administration. He served as voivode in Tokat, Merzifon and Zile, districts neighboring Amasya, then rose to the post of defterdar of Sivas, a provincial center, and was retired soon after his dismissal. The two years between the dismissal in 1083 and the death in 1085 mark his retirement. His kinship with "Defterdar Ebubekir Pasha" rests on another entry by Hüsameddin in the same volume; the identity of this pasha has not been investigated in other sources.
