The Era of Hacı Ali Pasha
The Hacı Ali Pasha in the text is Canikli Hacı Ali Pasha. The sanjak of Amasya was granted to him as a mâlikâne on 30 May 1772, and the voyvodalık of the sanjak of Tokat was attached to it afterwards. His son Battal Hüseyin Pasha remained a captive in Russia for about nine years and was pardoned only in 1799. The spread of the Canikliler from the Black Sea coast into the interior also brought a long rivalry with the Çapanoğulları. According to the sources, Ali Pasha and his son Battal Hüseyin could not hold out against Çapanoğlu Mustafa Bey in 1779 and fled to Crimea, and the family was pardoned in 1781; Hüsameddin's date of 1193 coincides with this event. That Torunzâde Ahmed Bey sided with the Canikliler in this struggle emerges from Hüsameddin's account.
No information was found in other sources on the Dedezâde family, Torun Yakub Ağa and Çumuluzâde Hacı Ali Bey.
