Encyclopedia · History of Amasya, Volume 6, p. 177 • Edited by: Doç. Dr. Recep Orhan ÖZEL - Doç. Dr. Metin HAKVERDİOĞLU
In Modern English
He was the son of Seydîbeyzâde Kurd Mehmed Bey, that is, Kurd Mehmed Bey son of Ahmed Bey, one of the notables of Amasya and trustee of the waqfs of Hızır Pasha and Mehmed Pasha. When his father died, he became trustee of the waqfs of Hızır and Mehmed Pasha. But for years he carried on a lawsuit against the Goncabeyzâdes, who descended from the freedmen of the waqf's founders, and against Hayreddînzâde Ahmed Çelebi, one of the daughters' grandchildren. Sometimes trustee, sometimes dismissed, he died in 1095 [1683-84]. His son is Ali Bey.

The Waqfs of Hızır Pasha and Mehmed Pasha
The waqf named in the entry consists of the Mehmed Pasha Complex on the bank of the Yeşilırmak in Amasya and the revenues gathered around it. The founder of the complex is Hızır Paşazâde Mehmed Pasha, vizier of Bayezid II and lala of Prince Ahmed; he died in 900 [1495]. According to the inscription on the main gate of the mosque, the building was completed in the month of Muharrem 891, that is, January 1486. In the cemetery surrounding the mosque are the graves of Mehmed Pasha and of his father Hızır Pasha.
Hüsameddin does not write what the subject of the lawsuit was. He only reports that the suit lasted for years and that Ahmed Bey's trusteeship was interrupted. Waqf administration was a source of revenue and influence for long-established families in the 17th century; for this reason, disputes between the founder's descendants and the lines of freedmen and daughters are not new. But no source was found through which we could reach the details of this lawsuit.
No information on Ahmed Bey's family was found beyond the chain Hüsameddin gives (Ahmed Bey, his father Kurd Mehmed Bey, his grandfather Ahmed Bey). No records on the Goncabeyzâdes and Hayreddînzâde Ahmed Çelebi were seen in the other sources around us.
