In Modern English

He is the son of Abdî Efendi, the historian of Amasya and müderris of the Abdullah Pasha Madrasa; he is the half-brother on the father's side of Seyyid Şeyh Ali Efendi, deputy of the nakîbüleşraf. After completing his studies under the Amasya scholar Pîrîzade Hacı Hüseyin Efendi, he gave public lectures. Then he became müderris of Abdullah Pasha, afterward kadı of towns, and served for about a year as naib of Amasya; he died in 1131 [1718-19]. He was among the great scholars, a litterateur and a brave man.

Another, Helvacızade Hacı Ahmed Efendi, son of Mehmed Ağa, was also among the well-known scholars and, after serving as müderris at some madrasas, died in 1133 [1720-21]. He preached often at the Gümüşlüzade Mosque.

Abdî Efendi and His Family

In the entry the person's father is called "historian of Amasya." This phrase reports that Abdî Efendi wrote on the history of Amasya; the particulars of his work could not be verified from another source in this study.

Ahmed Efendi's three-step sequence of posts is notable: professorship, kadılık in towns, then a year as naib in Amasya. The family also has a relative, such as Seyyid Şeyh Ali Efendi, who served as deputy of the nakîbüleşraf. No information read in this study was found in other sources on the Gümüşlüzade Mosque, where Helvacızade Ahmed Efendi preached, or on the Abdullah Pasha Madrasa.
