In Modern English

He was from Köprü. He is the son of Dedezade Küçük Ali Ağa, son of Hacı Mustafa, son of Hacı Yusuf Ağa, son of Ahmed Bey, of the line of Hacı Yusuf Ağa, grandfather of the Köprülüzade Fazıl Ahmed and Mustafa Pashas, and one of the leading men of Köprü.

He was among the zeamet-holders and was raised in the mansion of Köprülüzade Fazıl Numan Pasha, and during his grand vizierate became harem kethüda. However, he and Kitapçı Ali Efendi, the grand vizier's kethüda, a relative regarded as the grand vizier's father figure, joined together and became the cause of Numan Pasha's removal from the grand vizierate.

On the twenty-second of Cemaziyelahir 1122 [1710], after Numan Pasha's dismissal, he was sent to Köprü. Later he became voyvoda of Köprü and died around 1134 [1721-22]. His son was the zeamet-holder Mahmud Ağa, who died in Istanbul in 1149 [1736-37]. His sons are Hacı Yusuf and Kâsım Ağas. The "Hacı Kâsımzades" of Köprü are the children of this Kâsım Ağa.

The Dismissal of Numan Pasha

The entry tells the role played in his master's fall by a relative raised in the circle of the Köprülü family. Köprülüzade Numan Pasha is the son of Fazıl Mustafa Pasha and became grand vizier on 18 Rebiülahir 1122 (16 June 1710). The intense interest the people showed because of his just administration made the sultan suspicious; Numan Pasha was dismissed on 20 Cemaziyelahir 1122 (16 August 1710). It is stated that Silahdar Damad Ali Pasha and the chief of the harem eunuchs had a large role in his dismissal.

Hüsâmeddin says that Dedezade Ali Ağa shared in this dismissal together with Kitapçı Ali Efendi, regarded as the grand vizier's father figure. The encyclopedia entry lists among the reasons for the dismissal the suspicion of the palace circle and the work of rivals; the names of Dedezade and Kitapçı Ali Efendi do not appear there. For this reason Hüsâmeddin's information could not be verified. Moreover, the date he gives, 22 Cemaziyelahir, is two days after the dismissal date in the encyclopedia; the difference may also stem from his meaning the day Ali Ağa was sent to Köprü, but this is a guess.

No information was found in other sources on Dedezade Küçük Ali Ağa, the family known as the Hacı Kâsımzades, or the other people Hüsâmeddin mentions.
