The Yörgüç Pasha Complex
The Yörgüç Pasha Soup Kitchen was part of the Yörgüç Pasha Complex in Amasya. According to one study, the complex was built in 834 [1430] and, together with the mosque and the tomb attached to it, also included a madrasa, a bath, a soup kitchen and a han. Of these, the mosque and tomb are still in use today, while the madrasa, bath, soup kitchen and han have not survived (Dikmen-Toruk, 2019). The TDV entry too states that Yörgüç Pasha had a mosque, a madrasa, a soup kitchen and two baths built in Amasya, and that of these the mosques in Amasya, Gümüş, Kavak and Köprü and the bath in Tokat have survived. Accordingly, the "Yörgüç Pasha Soup Kitchen" mentioned in the text no longer stands; its name lives on in waqf records and in the lists of sheikhs relayed by Hüsameddin.
The Office of Dersiâm
According to Mehmet İpşirli's TDV entry, to become dersiâm one had to graduate from a madrasa, obtain an icazet, and then sit for one more examination. Müderrises who obtained the authority to give public lectures in this way were influential among the people. That Ahmed Efendi in the text was at once dersiâm, soup kitchen sheikh and preacher of the mosque shows that he was a scholar in direct contact with the public. No information on this person was found in other sources. As for the Kadızâde Ahmed Efendis, no record other than Hüsameddin, who gives only their names and death dates, could be found.
