A Professor Passed from Teacher to Teacher
The entry shows the course of study of a young scholar in the early nineteenth century: first basic lessons from a local teacher, then leaving the city because of a "matter," completing his license with a teacher elsewhere, and returning home to take up a post at a madrasa. Hüsameddin does not say what the matter was. Hacı Ali Efendi of Suruklu is also mentioned, in entries 733 and 738, as a teacher in Amasya who granted licenses; thus life stories that seem separate meet in the same circle of learning.
No verifiable source other than Hüsameddin could be found for which Köprü is meant, for the location of Hâdim, or for the Taceddin Pasha madrasa. The entry also does not explain why Hâdimîzade Ahmed Efendi is called a "martyr." No information on this person was found in other sources.
