His Master Pervâne and the Events of 1277
Alakuş Bey's master Muînüddîn Süleyman Pervâne was the vizier who in practice ran the affairs of state in the years the Anatolian Seljuk State was under Mongol domination. On 15 April 1277 at Elbistan the Mongols met the army of the Mamluk Sultan Baybars. Some of the Seljuk units had gone over to the other side and some had not entered the battle. Abaqa Khan, seeing no Seljuk dead on the battlefield, accused Pervâne of treachery and took him with Sâhib Ata to Azerbaijan. Pervâne was tried in the vicinity of Aladağ near Van and killed after torture on 2 August 1277.
Hüsameddin gives Muharrem 676; this month corresponds to June-July 1277, which leaves a difference of a few weeks from the August date in the sources. As to the year of the event, the two agree. That Pervâne is buried in Amasya is understood from the waqf deed dated 699 [1299-1300] of his grandson Mühezzebüddîn Mes'ûd; Hüsameddin's words "he is buried beside his master" are consistent with this information. Pervâne's sons later founded the Pervâneoğulları Principality around Sinop and its surroundings (1277-1322).
His Son Alakuşî
Hüsameddin treats the son Şemseddîn Ahmed Alakuşî as a separate entry later in the book. No independent record of Alakuş Bey himself was found in other sources; what is known is limited to what Hüsameddin relays.
