Seljuk Descent and the Waqf
Altunbaş in Âzer Çelebi's chain of descent is a son of Gıyaseddin Mesud II, the last ruler of the Anatolian Seljuks, and a prince who took over the government in Amasya. The sources write that Kılıçarslan, a grandson of Altunbaş, was killed by Kadı Burhâneddin in early 1381 while emir of Sivas. Hüsameddin mentions this event in later entries with the date 781 [1379-80].
The "ancestor's waqf" from which Âzer Çelebi descended in the text may be understood as the waqf of the Seljuk dynasty in Amasya. Whose waqf it was and what it included is not stated in the text and could not be determined in another source either.
Apart from the information that Âzer Çelebi lived in Havza, no record was found about him. This person, whose name resembles that of Âzerî in the previous entry, is someone else.
