Period and Setting

The death date in the text, 616 [1219-20], coincides with the period when Amasya passed to Seljuk rule and the reign of Alâeddin Keykubad (1220-1237) began. Amasya was taken after the Danishmendids in 1175 by Kılıç Arslan II, and in 1231 was given as a timar to Bereket Han. Şirin Bey and his line, whom Hüsameddin describes, belong within this framework among the emirs of Amasya in Seljuk service.

No record was found about Aydoğdu Bey and his sons Şirin and Selçuk Beys other than Hüsameddin. Since the name "İzzeddîn Keykâvus" belongs to more than one Seljuk ruler, it is not clear which one is meant in the text. For Alâeddîn Ali Bey and his cousin Alâeddîn Alîşir Bey too there is no separate record.

Hüsameddin states that Şirin Bey went to the Hejaz and was therefore regarded as a "Hâcü'l-haremeyn". The title "Emîr Şücâ'eddîn" in the entry heading does not appear in the text.
