The Hocazâde Family
The entry "Halîl Efendi-Hocazâde Hâfız el-Hâc" in volume 9 of the book (p. 132) describes the father of the subject of this entry. Halil Efendi was first imam and preacher of the Sultan Bayezid Mosque, a ders-i âm and a şeyhülkurrâ, and died in Şaban 1133 [1721]. His sons were Abdüllatîf, Mehmed Emîn and the vizier Abdülganî Pasha, who is also called "Abdî Pasha". The same Halil Efendi is also mentioned among the events of the year 1100 as first imam of the Sultan Bayezid Mosque (vol. 4, "Hüseyin Paşa", p. 613–615). The entry "Emîr İmâm Abdullatîf Efendi" in volume 7 of the book (p. 354) says that Abdüllatîf had a library in Amasya and that his line was called "Emîr İmâm Oğulları". Read together, these records identify the subject of the entry as Halil Efendi's second son, Mehmed Emîn Efendi.
The Vizier Abdülganî Pasha
The entry "Abdî Paşa-es-Seyyid Abdülğanî" in volume 12 of the book (p. 594–595) sets out the brother's career. In his youth he entered the Enderûn, became barley superintendent in 1151, grand vizier's kethüda in Rebîülevvel 1160, kethüda for a second time in 1162, and in Şevval of that year [1749] governor of Tırhala with the rank of vizier. He then served as governor of Bosnia, Eğriboz and Belgrade, and died in Belgrade in Receb 1166 [1753]. Since Mehmed Emîn Efendi died in 1159, he must not have seen his brother's kethüdalık in 1160 or the vizierate and governorships that followed (inference).
Judgeship and Ders-i Âm
According to the encyclopedia entry, to become a ders-i âm one had to sit one more examination after graduating from the madrasa and receiving the icazet. The title was in frequent use in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. The text says that Mehmed Emîn reached his judgeship by examination as well. The book does not say in which districts he served as judge, and this could not be found in other sources either.
Küçük Hoca Mehmed İlmî Efendi
No information on Küçük Hoca Mehmed İlmî Efendi, at the head of the line, was found in sources other than the book. The book names "Küçük Hâce Mehmed Efendi" as the grandfather of Abdülganî Pasha's father (vol. 11, p. 521, "Abdülganî Paşa-Hâcezâde es-Seyyid").
