The Circle of Kutlu Şah
Emir Hacı Nureddin Kutlu Şâh, named in the entry, is one of the known figures in the history of the emirate of Amasya. According to Mehterhan Furkani's article, Kutlu Şah was the son of Emir Bahaeddin and became emir of Amasya after the death of Tulî Bey. Besides Amasya he governed Sivas, Tokat and the dependent places, and at times Kayseri and Konya came under his administration as well. Furkani cites the third volume of Hüsameddin as the basis of this information. In 760 (1359) Kutlu Şah appointed his son Şadgeldi as emir of Amasya, and in 762 (1360-61) he was defeated by the Karamanids and died. Hüsameddin's "after 761" places the death of Babuk Şâh oğlu Esen Bey in the period when these events took place or just after; whether Esen Bey took part in these wars could not be verified in the sources read.
Furkani calls the emir before Kutlu Şah "Tulî Bey", whereas in Hüsameddin's entries in this volume (233 and this one) the name "Sûlî" appears. The name appears to be written differently in the two places; whether they are the same name could not be verified.
No information was found in other sources on Esen Bey's father Babuk Şâh, his grandfather Tuğrul Bey and Şerefeddin İnâç Bey, on the place called "Varay", on his sons Sûlî Bey and Ali Paşa, or on his descendants Hamza Bey and Babuk Bey.
