Şadgeldi and Tokat

The "Hacı Şâhgeldi Padishah" of the entry is Hacı Şadgeldi, emir of Amasya. According to Mehterhan Furkani, Şadgeldi governed Amasya from 1359 to 1381, and the extent of his emirate included the provinces of Amasya, Tokat and Canik. When, at the end of the Eretnid period, the emirs began to act on their own, Şeyh Necib was in Tokat, while Şadgeldi acted independently in and around Amasya. That Tokat was held by Bîçâr Bey "for a time" agrees with the changing administration of this period of dissolution, but in which years and on whose behalf he governed Tokat could not be verified in the sources.

The year of Bîçâr Bey's death, 783 (1381), is also the year in which Şadgeldi died. The war between Kadı Burhaneddin and Şadgeldi was fought at Tokat in Ramazan 783 (1381), and Şadgeldi was killed in it. Whether there is any connection between Bîçâr Bey's death and this war is not stated in the sources; the coincidence of the year may be mere chance, and nothing more can be said on the matter.

No information was found in other sources on Bîçâr Bey, on Bahadır Bey, Ahmed Bey, Hamza Bey and Hüsâmeddin Bîçâr el-Yârî in the line of descent, on Bîçâr Pasha, or on his sons Hamza, Arslan and İsmâil Beys. What the epithet "Yârî" refers to also could not be found in the sources read.
