In Modern English
He was from Merzifon. Since he had been trained by the Treasurer Süleyman Pasha, he had been called "the Treasurer's Apprentice". On the thirteenth day of Şevval 1183 [8 February 1770] he became mutasarrıf of Amasya; Rahtuvan Paşazade Hacı İbrahim Bey son of Ömer Bey also became his mütesellim. On the nineteenth day of Zilkade Mehmed Nesîb Efendi of Amasya, deputy mektupçu of the grand vizierate, became second tezkireci and steward of the sultan's waqfs in Amasya; the waqfs' clerk, the calligrapher Köse Mehmed Emin Efendi, became his deputy. The second tezkireci Emir Hacıoğlu Hüseyin Râmî Efendi of Amasya became mutasarrıf of Çorum with the rank of beylerbeyi.
This year the hacıbaşı Dânişoğlu Hacı İbrahim Efendi, Seküköylüoğlu Ömer Efendi, imam and preacher of the Sultan Bayezid Mosque, and Ömer Efendi, müderris of the Osmaniye in the İçeri Şehir, died. The former janissary ağa, Köprülü Topaloğlu Osman Ağa, became governor of Tırhala with the rank of vizier and was sent to the war.
In Muharrem 1184 [April-May 1770] the mütesellim Hacı İbrahim Bey became chief notable, Hacı Servahdî Mustafa Efendi hacıbaşı, Emir Hacıoğlu Hacı Mustafa Ağa nakip, and Çorakçıoğlu Hacı Mustafa Ağa city kethüda.
In the first days of Safer the mutasarrıf Sâdık Pasha, on account of the courage and successes he showed in the Russian war, became guardian of İbrail with the rank of vizier; the sanjak of Amasya was also left in his hands. But this drew upon him the jealousy and rivalry of the Canik muhassıl Canikli Hacı Ali Bey. On the fourteenth day of Safer, with the dismissal of the mufti efendi, Kara İsmail Efendi of Çorum, müderris of the Sunkurlu Madrasa, became mufti of Amasya.

From Merzifon Voivode to Vizier
As seen in the previous entry, Sâdık Mehmed Pasha, while voivode of Merzifon, rallied the leaderless unit near Bender and within a few months received Amasya with the rank of beylerbeyi of Rumelia and then the guardianship of İbrail with the rank of vizier. This rapid rise clearly shows the opportunities that the war of 1768-1774 opened to provincial notables. But the Pasha's life from here on will be equally unfortunate: entry 60 recounts that he was dismissed after his defeat before İbrail, and entry 62 that, after escaping captivity, he had the vizierate taken from him and was compelled to live at Merzifon, and finally was put to death at Merzifon by Canikli Hacı Ali Pasha.
No information was found in other sources on Sâdık Mehmed Pasha. A point the reader should note is that the nineteenth-century statesman of the same name, Sâdık Mehmed Pasha (d. 1901), has no connection with this person; he was a financier from Bayındır who briefly served as prime minister in 1878. The Sâdık Mehmed Pasha entries encountered in encyclopedias and search results belong to this later person.
The Guardianship of İbrail
İbrail (Brăila), on the lower Danube, was a trading landing where the produce of Wallachia was gathered and one of the grain stores of Istanbul. Because of its strategic and commercial importance its guardian was usually a pasha of the rank of beylerbeyi or vizier of two horsetails; that Sâdık Pasha was given the vizierate together with this post conforms to this custom. During the war of 1768-1774 there were six thousand Ottoman soldiers in the fortress. After the rout at the plain of Kartal on 1 August 1770, İbrail, like Kilia and Akkerman, was lost, but it was returned to the Ottomans by the Treaty of Küçük Kaynarca in 1774. The appointment Hüsameddin records falls at the beginning of Safer 1184, that is, the end of May 1770; a few months after the Pasha took up the post the fortress fell, and he himself suffered the defeat and captivity recounted in the next entry.
The Jealousy of Canikli Hacı Ali Bey
"The Canik muhassıl Canikli Hacı Ali Bey" in the last sentence of the entry is the real hero of the following entries. Ali Bey, son of Fatsalı Ahmed Ağa, had in 1762 won the contest with his elder brother Süleyman Pasha over the Canik mukataa and become Canik muhassıl, took part in the war that began in 1768, and in 1769 was sent toward Khotyn. The jealousy Hüsameddin mentions here should be considered together with this powerful Black Sea coastal family's effort to extend its influence to the interior, especially toward Amasya. Ali Bey will succeed in 1772 in obtaining the sanjak of Amasya as a malikâne.
No information was found in other sources on Mehmed Nesîb Efendi, the calligrapher Köse Mehmed Emin Efendi and Emir Hacıoğlu Hüseyin Râmî Efendi named in the entry.
