In Modern English
He was the son of Dânişzâde Hâfız el-Hâc Osman Efendi, one of the notables of Amasya; Osman Efendi was the son of Dâniş Mehmed Efendi. Because he carried the lantern before his elder brother el-Hâc Halîl Efendi, he became known as "Fenârcı, Fenerci" and was a member of the assemblies of the pilgrims and the notables. He died at about this time.
His sons are el-Hâc Halîl and Osman Efendis. Fenercizâde el-Hâc Evliyâ Halîl Keşfî Efendi, mufti of Amasya, signed some of his notes "Halîl son of İbrahim el-Fenârî" and others "Halîl son of İbrahim son of Osman el-Fenârî". The sons of Evliyâ Hacı Halîl Efendi are el-Hâc Hâfız Mehmed and İbrahim Efendis.
Hacı Hâfız Mehmed Efendi was among the scholars regarded as the one of his age in tafsir and hadith, and was known as Fenercizâde.
His sons are Hâfız Ali and Ömer Efendis. Hâfız el-Hâc Ali Efendi was also among the scholars and died childless. Ömer Efendizâde es-Seyyid Mehmed Efendi also passed away childless in 1290 [1873-74]. These too were known as Fenercizâde.

A Nickname Turning into a Surname
The entry shows a nickname turning into a family name. İbrahim Efendi, who carried the lantern before his elder brother, was called "Fenerci"; this name passed to his sons and grandsons and became "Fenercizâde". Hüsameddin also records that Evliyâ Halîl Keşfî Efendi, the mufti of the family, signed some of his notes with the nisba "el-Fenârî". The nickname was thus turned into a bookish nisba.
The "elder brother" Halîl Efendi in the entry is most probably the Halîl Efendi mentioned as the father in the previous entry; the lineage chains coincide. İbrahim Efendi's own son Halîl is a separate person and served as mufti. It can be understood from the text that the scholarly path continued in the generation after Hâfız Mehmed Efendi, but that this branch ended when Ali and Mehmed Efendis died childless. No information was found in the sources I read about the term of office and the notes of the mufti Evliyâ Halîl Keşfî Efendi. No information on this person was found in other sources either.
