His Teacher Iydîzâde Âkif Mustafa Efendi
Iydîzâde Âkif Mustafa Efendi, mentioned in the entry as a teacher, is a divan poet born in Amasya. His father Bayram Efendi also wrote poetry under the pen name "Iydî" and had served as müderris at the Bayezid II Madrasa. Âkif Mustafa Efendi served for a time as mufti of Amasya, withdrew from the office of mufti towards the end of his life and taught at the same madrasa, and died in Amasya in 1173 [1759-60]. He has a compiled divan and a work called Bedî'a in thirty-two maqamas, written on the model of Hariri's Maqamat. That Hüsameddin names so many müderrises in this volume as his pupils shows the teacher's weight in the learned life of Amasya.
The Order of the Madrasas
İbrahim Efendi's return from Havza to Amasya is an example of the sequential appointments in the learned (ilmiye) organization. A person who finished madrasa study began at the lowest madrasa when his turn came and rose grade by grade. The date of death Hüsameddin gives (the twenty-ninth of Rabi' al-Thani) is a record with a definite day. No separate information could be found in the sources I read about the dârülhadis built by Hacı Osman Bey or the Doğrâkiye and Fîrûz Ağa madrasas. No information on this müderris was found in other sources either.
