A Beylerbeyi from the Line of Hoca Ahmed Pasha
İğnecizâde Hoca Ahmed Pasha, at the head of Ömer Bey's line, is a statesman of Amasya origin. The name İğnecizâde also appears in the chain of sheikhs of the Khalwati tekkes in Amasya (İğnecizâde Pîr Safiyyüddin Mahmûd el-Halvetî); whether this name refers to the same family cannot be understood with certainty from the sources examined.
Ömer Bey's going to the Iranian war in 1135 coincides with the Ottoman eastern campaigns of the 1720s. In the time of Damad İbrahim Pasha the west of Iran was partitioned with Russia (1724), and war broke out with the Afghans (1726). In some sources the Ottoman-Iranian wars are counted in three phases: 1723-27, 1730-32 and 1732-36. The wardenship of Revan in 1143 [1730-31] that Hüsameddin gives fits the second phase. According to Hüsameddin, Ömer Bey rose first from local offices (ayanship, mütesellimship) to the rank of beylerbeyi.
No detail on Ömer Bey's personal life was found in any source other than Hüsameddin.
