In Modern English
He was a native of Amasya, the son of Hâfız Ahmed. Gaining knowledge and spiritual insight in the service of Esnaf Şeyhi İbrâhim Efendi, one of the Sha'baniyya sheikhs, whose biography is written above, he became in 1120 [1708-09] imam and cüzhân (reader of Quran sections) of the Hızır Pasha Mosque, and in 1123 [1711-12] also sheikh of the Hızır Pasha Tekke and müderris of its madrasa.
While occupied in the Hızır Pasha quarter with teaching and guidance, preaching and counsel, dhikr and tawhid, he died on the sixteenth of Rajab 1141 [1729]. He was one of the well-known pious men, a scholar devoted to the sharia. His sons were Sâlih Efendi and İsmâil Efendi. Eş-Şeyh Sâlih Efendi died in 1153 [1740-41] while imam and sheikh of Hızır Pasha, and his son Mustafa Efendi died in 1155 [1742-43]. İsmâil Efendi was also an imam.

The Hızır Pasha Tekke
The Hızır Pasha Tekke stood in the old Şamice quarter and falls in today's Gökmedrese quarter, on the west side of the Gökmedrese Mosque. Beylerbeyi Hızır Pasha, of the Yörgüçpaşazâdes, founded the tekke in 971 [1564], toward the end of the age of Süleyman the Magnificent, and arranged its waqfs. The first sheikh of this tekke, which belonged to the Khalwati order, was İlyas Efendi, known as "Molla Şeyh"; after him Memi Dede Mehmed Efendi, his son İbrâhim Efendi, Hüsâmeddin Efendi, Mustafa Efendi, the preacher Hasan Efendi and his son Mehmed Efendi became sheikh in turn. The tekke burned in 1730 and its site cannot be determined today. The grave of Memi Dede and his deputy Hüsâmeddin Efendi is marked by a marble tomb in the Memi Dede Cemetery in the Hacılar Meydanı quarter, which lies under the Tokat road.
There are several uncertainties between this entry and the sources. Hüsameddin mentions this İbrâhim Efendi as sheikh of the Hızır Pasha Tekke; the name of İbrâhim, son of Memi Dede, appears in the list of the tekke's sheikhs, but it is not clear whether the two are the same person. On the other hand, in entry 147 "Eğincik Şeyhi İbrâhim Efendi" is counted among the deputies of Esnaf Şeyhi İbrâhim Efendi; the title of this entry is the same. It cannot be understood from the text whether Eğincik is a place name or the name of a tekke. Moreover, an article on the Khalwatis of Amasya mentions Hâfız İbrâhim Efendi of Amasya, of the Sha'baniyya, as having died in 1124 [1712]; Hüsameddin places the death of the Esnaf Şeyhi in 1123. This may be a difference in date concerning the same person, but it is not certain.
There is also a notable coincidence between this entry and entry 155: both İbrâhim Efendis died on the same day, the sixteenth of Rajab 1141. Hüsameddin does not point this out separately.
