Taşan Bey's Legacy and the Dispute Among Relatives
The İdris Bey in the entry title is the nephew of the İdris Bey described in the previous entry: his father Zekeriya is one of the brothers Taşan, Zekeriya, and İdris named in that entry. According to the picture Hüsameddin gives, Taşan Bey had gathered the districts of Kedağra, Havza, Merzifon, and Zeytun in one hand, and the dispute that arose among his children after his death gave İdris Bey his opportunity. An article studying the time of Kadı Burhaneddin tells that "Taşanoğlu Umur Bey" had a say over the district of Havza and fell into dispute with Kılıç Arslan, of Seljuk descent; according to Hüsameddin, Zekeriya's father is also Umur Bey. Whether the Umur Bey of the article is the same person as the Umur Bey Hüsameddin mentions is not certain; "Taşanoğlu" may also have been used as a family name. In a list of beyliks, the Taşanoğulları are shown as a beylik centered on Merzifon and ending in 1398.
Submission to the Ottomans and Yıldırım Bayezid
The date 788 (1386) is the same as the date Hüsameddin gives in entry 17 for Emîr Ahmed Çelebi and Hamza Bey; thus it is understood that the begs around Amasya bound themselves to Sultan Murad in the same years. Kadı Burhaneddin's setting up camp at Merzifon in 1393 and sending troops to Amasya, and then Yıldırım Bayezid's coming to Merzifon with a great army and taking the city, show how Ottoman influence was consolidated in this region. İdris Bey's death around 796 (1393-94) is very close to these events. Celâleddin (Kötürüm) Bayezid, one of the Candaroğlu emirs, also took part in these struggles; that is, at least three parties (Kadı Burhaneddin, the Emir of Amasya, and neighboring begs) were acting at the same time in the region, and the submission of minor rulers to the Ottoman sovereign may be seen as a search for security in this turmoil. No information was found in another source on his son Evren Bey or on Taşanzâde Haydar Bey.
Zeytun and Göl
In Ottoman-period records, Zeytun and Gedegra (Kedağra) are mentioned as districts attached to the sanjak of Amasya. The status of the nahiye of Göl in this context could not be found in sources other than Hüsameddin.
Havza and Köprü in the Same Years
The article studying Amasya in the time of Kadı Burhaneddin gives details that complete the setting in which İdris Bey lived. According to it, Kılıç Arslan, of Seljuk descent, had not fulfilled the conditions of the endowment left to him and had not given his brothers and uncles their shares. Since Kılıç Arslan regarded the district of Havza entirely as his own farm, he fell into dispute with Taşanoğlu Umur Bey, whose interference in the district he had blocked. Kılıç Arslan, who took the epithet Rükneddin at the instigation of his uncle Keyhüsrev Çelebi, opposed Hacı Şadgeldi Pasha and disturbed order in the districts of Havza and Köprü. As a result of these acts he was expelled from the borders of Amasya together with his uncle; the endowment was transferred to his brother Abdülmelik, known as Melik Bey or Melikşah. Kılıç Arslan was forced to go to Erzincan. Thus the minor lordships that Hüsameddin mentions in the Havza and Köprü area lived in an environment of frequent friction with Şadgeldi's central administration of Amasya.
