In Modern English
He is the son of Çûçûzâde Ahmed Bey, one of the notables and alay commanders (alaybeyi) of Amasya. While still a zeamet holder, in 1242 [1826-27] he joined the Nizamiye soldiers as a captain. In 1252 [1836-37] he resigned from the rank of kolağası and returned. Afterwards he became a member of the council; while müdür of Osmâncık in 1263 [1846-47] he died at the end of the month of Receb 1267 [1851].

A Career from the Old Order to the New
The text briefly gives the path of Ahmed Bey's son: joining the regular army while a zeamet holder, then reaching the rank of kolağası and resigning, then moving to the local council and provincial administration. The date 1242 [1826-27] stands out. The Asâkir-i Mansûre-i Muhammediyye army, founded on 7 July 1826 after the abolition of the Janissary Corps, is the name of the new regular army of those years. İsmail Bey's entry into the "Nizamiye" ranks falls in the first years of this transformation. A zeamet holder's passing into this new army as an officer is a point where the old and new orders meet; no information on how this transition took place in Amasya was found in the sources consulted.
The Osmâncık Müdürlük
In the Ottoman administrative order Osmâncık was attached to the sanjak of Amasya in 1423 and to the sanjak of Çorum in 1596, and was included in Amasya again in 1864. The year 1263 [1846-47] when İsmail Bey was müdür of Osmâncık falls in this second period, that is, in the years when it was attached to Çorum; that the son of an Amasya notable took office in a district of the neighboring sanjak is therefore noteworthy, and the sources do not explain the reason. On the duties of müdürs, an encyclopedia entry writes that toward the middle of the nineteenth century new administrators took the place of the city stewards in district centers and that tax collection was left directly to the district müdürlüks. Hüsameddin himself was later sent to the post of judge (naib) of Osmâncık in October 1905; the author of the book also served in this district for a time.
No information about the Çûçûzâde family or İsmail Bey was found in other sources. The "Çûçû Paşazâde" in the title of the entry and the "Çûçûzâde" in the text seem to point to the same family; this is an inference.
