The Mehmed Pasha Mosque and the Fatıma Hatun Madrasa

The mosque in the text must be the Mehmed Pasha Mosque in Amasya. Because no detailed source page on this building could be reached, nothing is given here about the mosque's date or patron. Searches for the Fatıma Hatun Madrasa likewise turned up no record that firmly documents its name and location. Whether the building stands today could not be determined.

A study of the müderrises of Amasya draws on the records of the reign of Abdülhamid II in the Meşîhat Archive and reports that more than forty madrasas have been identified in the city. Because that study deals with the müderrises of the late nineteenth century, it does not directly cover Seyyid İsmâil Efendi, who was appointed müderris in 1199. No information on this person was found in other sources.
