The Süleymaniye Madrasa and Its Surroundings

Searches for the Süleymaniye Madrasa in the Narlıbahçe area mentioned in the text, for Türedizâde Hacı Süleyman Ağa who built it, and for Ürgüplü Hacı Ahmed Efendi turned up no record. A study of the madrasas and müderrises of Amasya reports that more than forty madrasas have been identified in the city; but since that study rests on the archive records of the reign of Abdülhamid II, it does not cover this eighteenth-century müderris. The text records that İsmâil Efendi went to the Hijaz and died at Mecca; beyond that, the circumstances of his death are not known. It could not be determined which book is meant by the work called "Kitâbü'l-Mecmû." No information on this person was found in other sources.
