Yörgüç Pashazade (Grandson of Yörgüç Pasha)
Encyclopedia · History of Amasya, Volume 7, p. 370 • Edited by: Prof. Dr. Safi ARPAGUŞ- Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hakkı TURABİ
In Modern English
He was the son of Yûnus Bey, one of the emirs and a son of Yörgüç Pasha. Since he was left an orphan when his father died, Yörgüç Pasha gave him the share of the inheritance that had fallen to him. He grew up with his uncle Hızır Bey. After that uncle's death he became one of the zeamet holders and, taking part in many battles, became an emir. In 893 [1487-88] he died in the Egyptian War. Because he had endowed his properties, they were added to the Waqf of Yörgüç Pasha.

Yörgüç Pasha and His Descendants
The Yörgüç Pasha of the entry is the statesman who served as tutor to Prince Murad, son of Çelebi Sultan Mehmed, when the prince was sent to Amasya in 1414 to hold the governorship. After Murad ascended the throne as Murad II, Yörgüç was appointed beylerbey of Rum (1423), received the rank of vizier, and died in April-May 1442. He is buried in the tomb of the mosque he had built in Amasya. He had three sons named Hızır, Yûnus and Mustafa; Hızır and Mustafa are known to have died at the Battle of Varna. The uncle Hüsameddin mentions is most probably this Hızır Bey (an inference); he should not be confused with Hızır Pasha, the brother of Yörgüç Pasha, who governed Amasya later. The sources read contain nothing on the death of Yûnus Bey or on his children; the name of the grandson who is the subject of this entry is not given by Hüsameddin either.
Different genealogies have been proposed for Yörgüç Pasha. According to one view he descended from Nâsırüddin Ahmed, who built the Atabeg Madrasa in Amasya. But since his father's name is written as Abdullah in the inscription of his mosque, on his gravestone and in his deed of endowment, the accuracy of these genealogies is doubtful. The branch of the family known as the Atabeyzades that descends from Yörgüç Pasha was called the Yörgüç Pashazades.
The Waqf of Yörgüç Pasha
Yörgüç Pasha had a mosque, a madrasa, an imaret and two baths built in Amasya, a bath and a han in Tokat, a mosque at Gümüş, an imaret at Havza, a mosque at Kavak and a bath at İskilip. According to the inscription of his mosque, the building in Amasya was completed in 1430 (834); the page of the provincial directorate of culture and tourism gives 1428. The sources do not explain the difference between the two dates.
The Egyptian War
The year 893 (1487-88) falls in the middle of the war fought between the Ottomans and the Mamluks in 1485-1491, in the time of Bayezid II. Hüsameddin does not say in which engagement the grandson died. No other record was found of the stage of the war at which Yörgüç Pashazade was present.
